What is CareerID?

CareerID is an early-career hiring platform where candidates are ranked by a verified skill score rather than by CGPA, resume keywords or referrals. Each job can carry a JD Score test generated from its own description: a proctored, four-layer assessment covering Speed & Coverage (L0), Understanding (L1), hands-on Execution (L2) and Real-World Validation (L3). Results produce a single 0–10 score weighted L0 20%, L1 20%, L2 30%, L3 30%. Employers review applicants in a ranked pipeline and interview shortlisted candidates in CareerID's own interview room, which has 16 tools such as Coding, SQL, Whiteboard and Spreadsheet.

How does the CareerID JD Score work?

A JD Score test is generated from the job description itself, so each role is assessed on its own required skills. It runs in four layers: L0 Speed & Coverage, timed rapid multiple-choice where faster correct answers score higher; L1 Understanding, per-skill micro, trap and scenario questions designed to catch memorisation; L2 Execution, hands-on work in the tool that matches each skill, such as running code, querying a database, building a spreadsheet model or drawing a system design; and L3 Real-World Validation, larger scenarios where the candidate decides and defends an approach. The four layers combine into one 0–10 score at weights of 20%, 20%, 30% and 30%. Tests are proctored and generated in multiple parallel question sets, so two candidates sitting the same assessment do not receive an identical paper.

What happens if a candidate scores below the JD Score cutoff?

Results are released when the employer's test window closes, or as each score arrives if the employer set no window. At that point every scored applicant at or above the cutoff, and inside the shortlist size if the employer set one, moves to Shortlisted automatically, with a timeline entry and a notification to both sides. The other applicants are moved to Rejected and notified with their score. Nobody is screened out on CGPA, college or resume keywords, and nobody is turned down without being told the score the decision was based on.

CareerID Gem is the live interview room built into CareerID, so employers do not leave the platform to interview a shortlisted candidate. A session carries audio, video and screen share alongside 16 working tools the interviewer can send: Coding in 14 languages, Frontend with a live preview, SQL, Cloud & Terminal, Python DS, Spreadsheet, Data Visualization, Whiteboard, Pro Diagrams, Text Diagrams, Workflow Builder, Brainstorm Canvas, Rich Text Editor, Form Builder, MCQ and open Questions. Interviews run against an auto-generated agenda, and every action — code runs, drawings, submitted answers, chat, files and captures — is recorded against the application as a reviewable artifact on a seekable timeline.

Which skills can CareerID test hands-on?

Each skill in a job description is matched to a working tool automatically, and 15 of the interview room's 16 tools are also used in the JD Score test. For example, Java and Python go to Coding, React to Frontend, PostgreSQL to SQL, Docker to Cloud & Terminal, Pandas to Python DS, Excel and financial modelling to Spreadsheet, Tableau to Data Visualization, system design to Whiteboard, UML to Pro Diagrams and copywriting to the Rich Text Editor. That covers engineering, data and finance, design and systems, and business and writing roles, not only software.

How do candidates track an application on CareerID?

Every application moves through five visible stages: Applied, Under review, Shortlisted, Interview and Selected, plus Rejected and Withdrawn. Each status change appends a timestamped entry to the application timeline and notifies the candidate, so progress is visible without contacting the employer. Candidates see their JD Score once the assessment is graded, and can withdraw an application at any point from the tracker.

Is CareerID free for candidates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Candidates create a profile, apply to roles, take JD Score assessments and join interviews at no cost. Employers post jobs, run JD Score tests and interview in CareerID Gem free during early access. Employers sign up with a work email address; free personal email providers are not accepted for recruiter accounts.
