Terms of Service

Last updated

These are the rules for using CareerID. The short version: be honest, do your own work, post real jobs, and treat other people on the platform decently. The longer version below explains what happens when someone doesn’t.

Draft pending legal review

This document describes how CareerID actually works today and is published so you are never left without one. It has not yet been reviewed by counsel. If anything here conflicts with a signed agreement you hold with us, that agreement takes precedence.

Who can use CareerID

  • You must be at least 16, or the minimum working age where you live if that is higher.
  • You must give accurate information. Creating an account in someone else's name, or as a company you do not represent, is not allowed.
  • Recruiter accounts require a company email address. We verify employers before their postings are trusted, and verification can be revoked.
  • One person, one account. Do not share credentials.

If you are a candidate

You agree that:

  • Everything on your profile is your own and is truthful — your experience, education, projects and skills.
  • Work you submit in an assessment or interview is your own. Getting outside help, using another person, or using an AI assistant when the task says not to, is cheating.
  • You will not attempt to obtain questions or answers in advance, record or redistribute assessment content, or interfere with proctoring.
  • You control your visibility. Applying to a role shares your profile with that employer, and that cannot be undone after they have seen it — though you can withdraw the application.

We may void a result and inform the employer if we find clear evidence of cheating. If you think we got that wrong, tell us and a human will review it.

If you are an employer

You agree that:

  • Every role you post is real, is one you are authorised to hire for, and describes the actual work, location and pay honestly.
  • You will not charge candidates money to apply, interview or be considered. No fees, no deposits, no equipment purchases.
  • You will not post multi-level-marketing schemes, commission-only roles disguised as salaried ones, or unpaid work described as a job.
  • You will use candidate data only to evaluate candidates for the role they applied to, and you will not export it into unrelated systems or sell it.
  • You will not discriminate on the basis of caste, religion, gender, disability, marital status, pregnancy, or any other protected characteristic. CareerID exists to reward demonstrated skill.
  • Assessment scores are one input. You remain responsible for your hiring decisions.

We remove postings and suspend accounts that break these rules, and we do not need to warn you first if candidates are at risk.

Assessments and interviews

  • Assessment content, question banks and scoring rubrics belong to CareerID or the employer, and may not be copied, published or reused.
  • Your answers remain yours. You grant us and the employer the right to store and evaluate them for the purpose of that hiring process.
  • Timed assessments are enforced by our servers. Local clock changes do not extend your time.
  • Proctoring only runs with your browser permission, and we tell you before it starts. Declining is allowed; the employer may then decline your submission.
  • Live interview recording, when used, is visibly indicated to everyone in the room.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • Scrape, crawl or bulk-export profiles, postings or assessment content.
  • Probe, break or work around authentication, rate limits, sandboxes or the code-execution environment.
  • Use the code, SQL or terminal sandboxes to attack anything, mine cryptocurrency, or reach systems you do not own.
  • Upload malware, or files you do not have the right to share.
  • Harass, threaten, impersonate or spam anyone through messages or interviews.
  • Misuse the reporting system to attack legitimate users.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you upload — your resume, your profile, your answers, your code. You give CareerID a licence to host, display and process it for the purpose of running the platform and showing it to the employers you have chosen. That licence ends when you delete the content, except where we must retain a record as described in the Privacy Policy.

Availability

We work to keep CareerID running, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Interviews and assessments depend on your network, browser, camera and microphone as well as on us. Where a failure on our side spoils an assessment attempt, contact us and we will arrange a retake with the employer rather than let a technical fault count against you.

Suspension and termination

  • You can deactivate or permanently delete your account at any time from Settings.
  • We may suspend or ban an account for breaking these Terms, for fraud, or to protect other users.
  • Where it is safe and lawful to do so, we will tell you why. Suspended users can contact us to dispute the decision.

Liability

CareerID is a marketplace and an assessment tool. We are not the employer, we are not a party to your employment, and we cannot guarantee that you will be hired or that a hire will work out. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the platform. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes to these Terms

We will update the date at the top of this page when these Terms change, and notify you in the product before material changes take effect. Continuing to use CareerID after that means you accept the new version.
